Inspect rubber bushings i in suspen-
sion system.

Check brake hoses and braking
plates, both front and back. If they
are wet with brake fluid or cracked,
have them repaired.

Check condition of tires. If there is
an uneven wear pattern, have front
end aligned

Check back near transmission. Look
for signs of excessive leakage.
Check oil level in standard
transmission.

Check U-joint, situated just behind

the transmission on rear-wheel drive
car. Check its condition by grasping
drive shaft and attempt to shake it
up and down and sideways. Any
movement means the joint is worn
and should be replaced.

Check gas tank and fuel lines for
leakage and apply a drop of oil to
parking brake cables and pivots.

fuse sizes. Carry two of each size
with you.

No Deposit Funnel

You can make a great funnel for
oil changes from any empty, clean
two-litre plastic soda pop bottle. Cut
off the bottom and you have a fun-
nel that will easily hold a quart of oil
or the can itself. Keep the cap and
it will prevent oil from dripping on
your workbench after the funnel has
been used.

Wheel Painting

If you need to touch up the paint
on a steel wheel, but don’t want to
bother masking off the tire, try us-
ing petroleum jelly. Wipe a light coat
of it on the tire and any other places
you don’t want the paint to stick.
After the paint is dry, wipe off the
petroleum jelly along with the
overspray.
