58 - Friday, November 22, 1985 - North Shore News Entertainment Chamber ensemble returns QUARTET CANADA returns to West Vancouver, Saturday, November 23 to kick off the Community Arts Council’s Fourth An- nual Chamber Musical Series. Now celebrating its tenth anniversary together, the ensemble has received critical acclaim, both na- tionally and internationally. The next concert in Seat- tle is already sold out but tickets are still availabie for November 23, 8 p.m. at the West Vancouver United Church. The program will feature Brahms Quartet in G Minor and the Schumann Piano Quartet with Dana Music complements phetos PRESENTATION House gallery will be hosting its se- cond concert in its new Music in the Gallery series Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. The evening will offer a special program of music in honor of the recently deceased (1984) Montreal- based composer, Micheline Coulombre Saint-Marcoux. The performance takes place during Canada Music Week, and is designed to comple- ment the exhibition, Photoperspectives '85. Included in the program will be pieces for string quartet by Saint-Marcoux Fish Tales smells of success PACIFIC THEATRE will be opening Fish Tales tonight at Presentation House in North Vancouver. Written by Vancouver playwright Ron Reed, Fish Tales is a lively evening of theatre. Three Cape Breton fishermen set out on a crazy nighttime voyage in search of an elusive — and desperately needed — catch of fish. Playwright-actor Ron Reed finds “something poi- gnant and touching’’ in the blustery character of Pete, whom he describes as ‘‘the play’s crusty, down-market version of Captain Ahab.” Morris Ertman, the direc- tor and designer, is well- known for his work with many of Edmonton’s pro- fessional theatres. Fish Tales runs Friday through to December 8 at Presentation House, 333 Chesterfield, Worth Van- couver. Sale benefits needy children THEY’RE families helping children. A North Vancouver group of Families for Children will be holding its annual Christmas craft and baking sale to raise money for underprivileged kids in Bangladesh, India and Somalia. Volunteer Miriam McMaster explains that $16,000 has been raised over the last two years to help these children. The sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, at St. Martin's Church at [95 West Windsor, North Vancouver from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Franz Joseph Hydn, as well as Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet, Op. 115 by Johannes Brahms, with guest soloist Keith MacLeod on clarinet.
