Supreme Court jury ‘Thursday
he started beating Mary Costin
in 198) after she refused to
have sex with hint, He clains
his friend. Jean Vietor Beaulac,
picked up up where he left off
and beat Costin to death.

Beaulic, oof Vangouver,
stands charged with the first
degree murder of Costin, Her
battered body was found near
Lynn Creek on Feb, 18, 198t.
The Qvo men met the native
waman at a party, then went
with ber toa Vancouver apart-
ment. Costin was 23 years ofd
atthe dine, Beautie was 21 and
Norris was 17.

Norris answered softly in
Withering — cross-examination
from defence lawyer Peter
Leask. Norris told the jury he
began hitting Costin while she
lay with her head on a hide-a-
bed mauress.
