WEST VANCOUVER RED CROSS SWIMMING INSTRUCTOR COURSE The Canadian Red Cross Society fias recently restruc- tured their Instructor Train- ing Program. The Leaders and Instructors courses are being replaced by Instructor | and Instructor II programs. At Instructor I level one can teach all eight levels. To ac- commodate those people who are qualified as a leader and wish to advance to Instructor ll a fun hour conversion clinic will be offered prior to the Instructor I] course at Christmas time. This fall, between Sept. 29 and December 8, an Instruc- tor level I course will be heid on Saturday mornings 8:00 am to noon at the pool. Can- didates must be 16 years old and have passed the green level. Here’s how the pro- gram works: at 6:00 p.m. the pool is open for length and family swimming until 8:30 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. an aquatic fitness class in shallow water will be offered while children’s activities for three year olds and up are led. From 8:00 p.m. to 8:30 p-m. the family can relax together in the hot pool. You are welcome to come for all or part of it. SKATING FOR THE FAMILY Each Friday night from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. the West Vancouver Arena is set aside for the exclusive use of families. All children on the ice must be accompanied by a parent and all adults must be accompanied by one of their children. This session is immediately followed from 7:15 to 8:15 by everyone welcome skate to allow the families to stay, the children to stay alone or whatever combination you wish.
