flies again

NEW YORK (UPI) - The
Canadian play “Billy Bishop
Goes to War” got a new
lease on life Monday, when
its loyal producers “went
back to Plan A.”

The play with = music,
written by John Gray and
with Eric Peterson im the
title role of Canada’s World
War I! air acc, gol good
reviews when it opened on
Broadway at the Morosco
Theater May 29. But there
was no rush to buy tickets
for what may have been
regarded as “another war
play.” and it closed Junc 7
after only 12 performances.

But Monday the producers
— Mike Nichols and his
partner Lewis Allen —
decided to reopen the same
production at the Off
Broadway Theater De Lys
June 17.

A spokesman said, “They
belicve so much in the show
they have gone back td Plan
A”

Nichols and Allen brought
the show to the U°S. after it
had playcd across Canada to
great acclaim. They planned
an Off Broadway produc-
tion, but when “Billy Bishop
Goes to War” got rave
reviews in Washington thcy
took a chance and booked it
