THE following is a selection of volunteer opportunities available through North Shore Community Services (NSCS): A receptionist is needed for an organization that provides referral and information to tie eral public from a store- mt office in a mall. A good : - telephone manner, ease with ¢ public and general office “ skills are needed. can as es One on one volunteers are needed on the North Shore to work with people who are blind or have visual impair- ments. Volunteers visit with the visually impaired person and may assist by reading, helping with outings or engaging in activities of mutual interest. Child care volunteers are necded to help out at various child care centres on the North Shore. Duties may include reading to children, errands, field trip assistance, special pro- ject help and general playtime assistance. A group leader is needed to coordinate the operations of a group of people dealing with arthntis. The group mects monthly on Wednesday after- noons, The volunteer should have some interest in arthritis and in seniors. Special event volunteers are needed Sunday, Sept. 13 to assist with a fundraising walk event. Voluntecrs jobs include course marshals, water station attendants, brochure distribu- tors and more.
