DESIGNERS are
enjoying the sporting
life.

Athletic-inspired clothes
are prevalent in the collections
coming our of Milan, Paris
and New York for spring.

Tops that resemble hood-
ed sweatshirts or track-and-
ficld tanks, athletic mesh
shirts, windbreaker-style zip-
front jackets and drawstring-
waist pants abound.

The current craze for
aaventure sports like rock
climbing and sea kayaking
has also fuelled this techno
trend.

High-performance — gear
like, microfibre jackets and
fleece pullovers have made the
leap to city streets.

Donna Karan’s Aqua Sock
is a high-fashion adaptation of
the river rafter’s water sock.

Patagonia is pioneering
synthetic fleece pullovers so
plush they’ve earned the name
“synchilla” and Patagucci.
