Angle top swags would work

well if you wanted to emphasize

. diagonal lines in room with cathe-
dral ceitings, cr with windows that
follow a diagonal ceiling line.

The fabric should drape well; it
could be lightweight and translu-
cent, or it could be plain damask.
Another option would be to choose
brocade with a traditional pattern for
the cascades and a plain color for
the swag.

Salzburg valance

Ruffled Salzburg shades are for
romantics. Vaguely reminiscent of a
ball gown or wedding dress, they
could look wonderful in a bedroom,
made of lined, cream-colored silk or
satin.

If batiste or soft cotton is used,
the roscttes could be made of lace.
The design is meant as a stationery
valance, not intended to be lowered.

‘But they do seem more suitable as a

shades that cover the full length of a
window. This would give them a
function as well as good looks.
