Troy Byron Spinder, 27, was remanded in custody for a May 1 court appearance. The charges follow a lengthy investigation by West Vancouver Police during which investigators recovered approximately $100,000 worth of property. Police say the alleged offences occurred in West Vancouver dur- ing the past four years. Jail term set for thief A 26-YEAR-OLD Vancouver man was sentenced April 7 in North Vancouver provincial court to six months in jail after he pleaded guilty to theft and fraud charges. George Bradford Wilson was originally charged with two counts of theft ander $1,000 in connection with March 18 and March 29 incidents in which blue jeans were stolen from F.W. Woalwarsth’s Co, Ltd. and cigarettes were stolen from Canada Sateway. He was farther charged with two counts of obtaining transpor- tation by land throagh fraudulent means in connection with March 24 and 25 incidents. Appearing before Judge A.J. Scow, Wilson was sentenced to four and six-month jai! terms on the first two theft charges and a five-month term on the fraud charges. He was also placed on pro- bation for 18 months. The jail ternas will be served concurrently. WV man charged with B&E A WEST Vancouver man has been charged with break, enter and theft and mischief after a man complained to West Vancouver Police March 12 that a person had thrown a rock through the win- dow of Lis store located in the 200-block Whonoak Road. Police dog Razz and a member of the West Vancouver Police Gog anit were called in to assist a second officer at approximately | 3:20 a.m. in attempting to locate a suspect. tencking directly east of the building and followed a seent. New Seymour j|bus route initiated BC TRANSIT will begin a new bus route April (7 to serve the rap- idly growing Seymour urea in North Vancouver. The 215 Indian River/Phibbs Exchange will supplement the 211 Seymour route. The 215 will initially operate six trips a day during weekday rush hours only. An expanded service is planned for September. The new bus will travel west on Indian River Drive from Inlet Crescent, teft on to Mount Scymour Road, right on to Mount Seymour Parkway. The bus then travels via Riverside, Dollarton Highway and Main Street to Phibbs Exchange. From Phibbs, the bas follows the same route back to Inlet Crescent. Canyon park rally planned THE LYNN Yalley Community Association has organized a rally | to draw attention to North Vancouver District development plans for the Lynn Canyon park ares. Association members fear much of the wilderness area will fall to proposed road, bridge and residential development. The ratly is scheduled to take place Sunday, May 7 at 1 p.m. outside the Lynn Canyon Park Ecology Centre. A public bearing addressing the issue is planned for Monday, May 15 at 7 p-m. at North Vaacouver District municipal hall. FOLLOWING IN-CAMERA de- liberations, North Vancouver District Council has introduced bylaws that will see pay raises for the mayor and aldermen. Under a formula worked out by a community task force, Mayor Marilyn Baker’s indemnity will in- crease by 3.3 per cent this year plus another ’2 per cent because of pop- ulation increase to the 1981 base rate, raising the mayor’s total in- demnity from $43,296 to $45,591. The biggest change this year is to the aldermanic stipend as a result of a motion proposed by Ald. Joan Gadsby and seconded by Ald. Ernie Crist which will see the aldermen receiving 30 per cent of the mayor’s indemnity. Under the old pay fcrmula in- crease, the aldermanic indemnity would have risen ty the same per- centage as the mayor’s, 5.3 per cent, from $11,690 to $12,310. Under the new 30 per cent rule, aldermanic salaries will increase to $13,677. Baker, Ald.
