& ~ Wednesday, June 10, 1992 - North Shore News MAILBOX Columnist’s opinion ‘disturbing’ Dear Editor: I found Catherine Atyeo’s col- umn of May 8 on abortion very disturbing. She first states that she believes human life is to be valued and cherished, but then goes on to say that due to ‘ack of proper daycare, or financial difficulties, abortion is all right. Science has proven to us that life begins at conception; what right have we to destroy that life? How can we be concerned with the environment when at the same time we are destroying the most valuable part of the environment? Remember, no one is forcing anyone to become pregnant; it is a choice. Performing abortions in state hospitals paid by taxpayers’ dollars is obscene and makes all taxpayers contribute to something only a portion believe in. Barbara Eifier North Vancouver Fund thanks contributors Dear Editor: The Save the Children Fund of B.C. (SCFBC) would like to thank every one who attended our recent sale of tulip bulbs at North Van- couver’s Park and Tilford Gardens. The generosity shown by Part. and Tilford in donating the tulip bulbs is greatly appreciated. In addition, SCFBC thanks the North Shore Academy of Danc- ing, Linda Robertson and all the parents and friends of the dancers for a successful recital May 21 and 22 which raised $3,000. Money raised from these events will be used to fund one of our many overseas projects. Liz Bannister Executive Director Save the Children Fund of B.C.
