TESTING WATER WEST VANCOUVER-based McLeay Associates Ltd. has been awarded a $238,460 contract from Environment Canada to develop standardized biological test methods. Dr. Don McLeay said he will be developing aquatic toxicologist test methods to be used by En- vironinent Canada to assess the threat to the environment by a variety of materials such as ef- fluents, chemicals and sediments. “Environment Canada is now looking to having a number of standardized testing methods that they will use in| monitoring the receiving environment around point sources of pollution,”’ said McLeay. As well, certain industries will eventuality be required to use these testing methods to acquire samples which will then be submitted to independent laboratories. Working under subcontract with McLeay is North Vancouver-based EVS Consultants Ltd., Dr. Ed Bousfield of Victoria, Dr. John Sprague of J.B. Sprague Associates Ltd. in Guelph, On- tario, and Gary Harris of Harris industrial Testing Services Ltd. in Nova Scotia.
