They probably got scared by a car or something and jusi kept wander- ” Man believed to be chased before death plunge NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP investigators believe two men were chasing 28-year-old Ken John Alexander Miller moments before he fell 23 feet from the walkway above the Lonsdale Quay bus loop, sustaining injuries which lead to his death five days later. Police lost a prime witness when the Port Coquitlam man failed to regain consciousness after the May 27 fall. He died at Lions Gate Hospital June 1. Police believe Miller jumped over a planter to escape his chasers on the elevated walkway and tumbled to the asphalt below at approximately 2 a.m. Miller sus- tained injuries to his head and By MICHAEL BECKER News Reporter back. According to investigating of- ficer Cst. Lorne Schwartz, the mishap was the deadly end to four friends’ night out on the town. Schwartz said the four had spent the evening at Lonsdale Quay’s Waterfront Bistro and Tugs Cafe Pub. According to Schwartz, while waiting outside of Tugs for two of his pals still inside the pub, Miller and another friend got into a ver- bal altercation with somebody else. “Eventually they said the wrong things to the wrong people and they were chased,’’ Schwartz said. Several people chased after the chase, which lasted approximately 100 metres, but no one police have talked to saw Miller go over the side of the walkway. Said Schwartz: ‘‘They didn’t see Miller go over the rail, but some- body heard one of the chasers say, ‘Holy shit! The guy went over the edge!’”’ Schwartz said the chasers didn’t stick around. : Meanwhile a cab driver im- mediately below the walkway heard a gasp, looked up, and then saw Miller fall over the side. Police say an autopsy revealed no signs of a struggle and no inju- ries inconsistent with those sus- tained by a fall. Miller leaves behind a wife, 24- year-old Rebecca Anne Miller, and a 19-month-old daughter. Schwartz is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
