Sports CANADIAN COLLEGE FINALS Basketball Blu THE CAPILANO Blues women's basketball team battled to a fifth-place finish in its first national Ca- nadian College Athletic Association tournament recently. The CCAA competition, played March 26 to 28 at Hamilton, Ontario’s Mohawk College, included the eight best basketball teams in Canada. The Blues team opened the tournament with 58-51 loss to Quebec’s Ahuntsic College, then rolled over Wascana College from Saskatchewan 88-36 in its se- cond game. In the Blues’ third game the team went up against the No. | ranked Mohawk College and lost 61-49. The Your chance to. es finish fifth loss knocked the team out of the bronze medal round. The Blues won the battle for fifth place with a 62-31 win over Toronto’s Centennial College. ~ Blues coach Greg Sharpe said he was pleased with the team’s finish. “We lost a couple of games through inexperience and because we were nervous,’’ Sharpe said. ‘‘But we'll be back.** The Blues qualified for the national tournment after beating Fraser Valley College in the provincial finals March 14.
