Perhaps in the truest sense of the word community, these groups annually pra- duce more than 300 plays and bring 3,000 pertor- mances to the provincial stage for audiences like you and me. This year Theatre BC celebrates its 60th anniver- sary as the longest-serving provincial theatre associa- tion in Canada. The provincial Mainstage festival is really the crowning event of a network of pro- vince-wide zone festivals. In some cases, zone festi- vals represent the only chance to perform on a real stage, or in larger zones, the only chance to see perfor- mances by other groups. And even though the best production will be chosen, all of us, as participants or audience members, are the winners simply by being a part of one of Canada’s oldest theatre traditions. {am proud to serve as the honorary chairman for Mainstage ‘93 and | wish to take this opportunity to wel- come you to North Van- On behalf of the council of the District of North Van- couver | am pleased to offer our support to Mainstage "93, North Vancouver will host community theatre en- thusiasts and the public.
