There's always been room in fashion for a bit of fun and, this year, the fun part of fashion is fantasy. According to Lois Ziegler, Fashion Director Penney, this year’s fantasy means touches and details of other lands. Typical of such looks are anything vaguely lean. This’ would include billowing blouses and skirts, flower-scattered challis, loden-cloth outer-wear, closely-shaped little jackets, smocking, ric-rac, and challis-printed scarves. Wide belts and contrasting colored tights are other accessories that polish the look. Another fantasy that almost anyone can achieve is the Buccaneer or pirate look. Many fashion experts at- tribute this to the success of Linda Ronstadt in The Pirate of: Penzance on Broadway, but Penney’s expert feels the look is far more universal. “We've seen it coming in Europe for several seasons,” she points out. From England comes the “Hunt Country” look defined by elongated hacking and riding jackets with leather buttons and suede elbow patches. The pants are jodhpurs, with curved hipline, fitted from the knee down. Foulard shirts, jockey caps or hunting world fedoras, horsy-set jewelry and, of course, slick tall boots are necessary parts of the look.
