construction of, a different
typeof cabin is expected to
start this summer.
It will be a major project
undertaken by the 3rd West
Van Scouting -group. The
aim: toé expand and improve
outdoor activity programs in
a nearby wilderness setting
for West Van boys —
particularly the younger
ones. a

The three-floor structure.

will provide sleeping and
eating accommodation,
together with -an indoor
activity area, for 25-30 boys
at a time. As far as possible it
will be built by volunteer
labor from members of the
scouting group and their
parents. Target date for
completion is 1983.

West Van council has
granted approval in principle
for the project and the use of
a site on the Ridge. Plans

Meanwhile, the Group —
which presently numbers -
about 130..Beavers, Cubs,
Scouts, Venturers § and
Rovers — has launched an
appeal to the West Van
community for the.
remaining $30,000 that will
still be required to complete
the cabin.
