Readers in this instance. evidently have not read: as far as the sample- questions at the end of Mrs. Mc- Creadie’s article. However, Mrs. Mce- Creadie’s reply to the hypothetical question regarding persons with criminal records. is not necessarily the correct one Since there may be other reasons beside the applicant being on probation or having ‘an outstanding warrant against him for refusal of passport facilities. . ‘As I mentioned in my letter of January 17, each application is considered on its own merit and Mrs. McCreadie is simply in no Jassertions about who will’or , will not be given passports. “The issue is rather a serious one because of the thousands of individuals in this country who have had a single contact with the police on a “professional level”. And the suggestion that these people “stop right now” is not only false but perilously close’ to irresponsible. Parolees or people with outstanding warrants are of course quite another matter but surely there is a clear distinction between these and those who may have had an acquaintance. with the police in less serious cir- cumstances, and Mrs. McCreadie’s failure to make position to make categorical External Affairs Seymour not only for skiers — Open letter to the Minister for Parks and Recreation Victoria. We the undersigned wish to protest about the poor -availability of recreational space on Mt. Seymour in the -winter for young children and non-skiers. The. only. two designated toboggan runs are far too dangerous, both too steep. and too long, for young children, and every other suitable slope is used by skiers. The best slopes for young children are the ones around the old Lodge on Mt. Seymour. There is no apparent reason why skiers should use any of the little slopes around the old lodge, or be in any way inconvenienced by children using the safe and enjoyable slope leading down towards the cross country and snowshoeing trail. Nevertheless, Where is equity? Dear Editor: I notice with amusement that in past Electoral Rolls only the male occupants of homes and apartments are listed unless there happens to be a female living without a male in which case her name is listed. As an extreme cxamplic of the little importance given to women as a whole this is the ultimate. Let us hope that the Electoral Roll presently being compiled will correct this glaring injustrice since in all decent marriages of equal beings property is owned in joint names _ legally. Mary E.
