THERE are two potential benefits to the impending
Lions Gate Bridge closures: some commuters may stay
with the SeaBus and transit as a way to commute and
thus reduce traffic and emissions, and taxi companies
will make a lot of extra money driving the Second
Narrows route. Other than that, many North Shore
businesses and merchants are hoping they will not suf-
fer too much from closures or extended traffic tie- ups.
Safety issues for the bridge workers may yet result in
all work taking place at night and extending the dura-
tion of the rehab project into next year. The number
of total weekend closures during whatever timeframe remains unknown. It’s a lot
of aggravation and even more of our moncy to keep the Lions Gate at three lanes!
