Business Excellence to be

formally recognized in

North Vancouver this year

Every year across Canada, the efforts and achievements of small businesses
are given the chance for formal recognition within the communities they
o;-eraie. This year, the opportunity comes during Small Business Week, in the

+s of October. One of the highlights of that week will be the North
Vane couver Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. sponsored
by the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and the North Shore
News.

The contribution that small businesses and entrepreneurs make to the
economy is important and as such it is essential that their successes be given
special emphasis, states Carol Tennessy, BDC's North Vancouver Branch
Manager. “The recipients of these awards will be businesspersons and
businesses the: show significant and sustained commitment to business
development and economic growth within the community" she explains.
"We're looking for businesses that demonstrate a very positive role model
within the community [as well as] businesses that show vision, courage when
it comes to taking risks. and ones that adapt well to change ... and also
businesses that demonstrate good leadership within the North Vancouver
community overall." The awards are separated into six categories: The

~ Mayors Community Service award. The Young Entrepreneur award, The Best
