Apple Chrisimas Tree THE following is a small Christmas story written by North Vancouver resident Kitsy Woods-Creighton. The Apple Tree Christmas Mother’s Day, 1959 fell on Sunday, May ~ “11th and I received an - apple tree from my husband. We planted it together and prayed our soon-to-be- born baby and apple tree would grow strong together. On May 13th a beautiful baby girl arrived, most wel- come with three brothers waiting. The firse few years the baby and tree grew beautiful- ly — however, no apples appeared on the branches and our neighbors teased us about our barren apple tree. The morning of Christmas 1965 was beautiful after a snow storm, and I opened the door to feed the birds and discovered the apple tree was covered in decorations! —.. The following summer Fhe apple tree produced the first crop of apples much to everyone's delight. For the next 10 years the apple tree was decorated at hristmas, and although. we had discovered the neighbors were doing the decorating, we never caught them — despite the fact the snow was often deep around the tree no tracks could be found. The time came whea the house had to be sold, and I ~*——noved into an apartment. I knew chat — first Christmas would be hard. Christmas Day that year was sunny and the snow glis- tened on the trees around the Church I attended. I thought a lot about our Apple Christmas Tree that day. Following the service I returned to my apartment, and lo and behold a small Christmas tree stood in front of my apartment door. Tears flowed freely as I thanked the Lord for our wonderful neighbors and the joy we received over the years from that old Christmas Apple Tree.
