of several focal Black Velvet
Model Searches this month.

Former U.S. Black Velvet
models have included super
models Rim Alexis, Christie
Brinkley and Cheryl Tiegs as well
as actress Cybill Shepherd.

B.C. contestants. can compete

May 29 at the Delta Lion Pub or
May 30 at the Big Bam Boo to
become eligible to compete in the
provineial finals.

grams, the federal government
collects personal information from
you in a variety of ways. One of
the ways information is collected
is through the Census, which will
take place on June 4 this year.

The personal information that
the federal government collects is
needed to provide services such as
family allowances, old age pen-

sions and unemployment in-
surance. The Census helps the
government fo estimate fucure

needs in these areas.

The Privacy Act gives you the
tight to see this personal informa-
tion. it protects the information,
and controls how the federal gov-
ernment collects and uses it, You
can also request that corrections
be made to personal information
about you that is held by the fed-
eral government.

You should use the Act for
gaining access to information
when you are sure that it is per-
sonal information that you want.
The Act is intended to give you
access to information held about

you alone. Personal information
about a person may not be
disclosed to any other party

without that persan’s consent, ex-
cept under specific circumstances
described in the Privacy Act.
There is a privacy coordinator
in each) government institution,
who can help vou decide if you
need to use the Act, and how ta
make a request. A publication
called Info Source is available at
most libraries and employment
centres. Ee will tell you what in-
