Sports Winter Club rolls into 1986 ringette season THE NORTH Shore Winter Club began another ringette season with approximately 105 registered players. The club’s new noi? division team, for ages nine and under, was defec.:d 8-1 by PoCo in their first leawue rame on Oct. 18. The Petite A’s, meanwhile, whipped North Delta 10-1 on Oct. 10. Sara Bakk, denis Maclean and Sara Goodman led the NSWC offence, » hile Danielle Emmerich played well in goal. On Oct. 20, the NSWC downed Howe Sound 5-3 and the Petite B’s were beaten 12-7 by PoCo. Sarah Cunningham and Kim Surine put forth a Jessica Campbell scored four of the seven goals. Michelle McLeary, who is not the team’s regular goaltender, played well in goal. The Tween B's also defeated North Surrey 7-3. Melanie Flett and Jennifer MacDonald ted the of- fence. The Junior Belle A’s first league gume ended in a 6-6 tie with North West Van. The team demolished Aldergreve 10-0 on Oct. 23. The winning streak continued Oct. 25 in Langley, as the NSWC won by a score of 7-0. A good effort was put forth by all the girls, especially Stephanie Maki in goal. The NSWC A’s showed their superb ringette skills Oct. 20 by defeating Aldergrove 14-3. valiant effort for NSWC. The Tween A's won their Oct. 20 game against North West Van 7-3. TUE NORTH Shore News recently whipped the Lynwood Inn Chasers 5-2 in their fourth game of the North Shore Industrial Hockey League season. The game started poorly for the News when two costly errors resulted in the Chasers’ only two goals of the game. Ther first goal came on a News give-away in front of their new goalie Mike ‘‘Buffalo’’ Schemmer. An opportunistic Steve Pestal jumped on the puck to score the Chaser goal. Just 54 seconds JIater, the Chasers broke in on a three-on-one and Jim Bubr scored the Chasers’ second goal. But the News defence began to tighten up. With just over four minutes left in the first period, Brian Lawley fed a beautiful pass from the cor- ner over two Chaser sticks and on- to the stick of a speeding Owen Spooner who drilled a shot past Chaser goalie Larry Fzaroz. With four seconds left in the se- cond period, Glen Barker, assisted by Bob Knight, scored to tie the game. The momentum then shifted and the News dominated the rest of the game. Dave Eisler, Bob Knight and Brian Lawley added to the News total. Bruce BonBernard had two assists. Owen Spooner and Greg Rasmussen were also in on the goals. In other league action, the Hip- po Hustlers continue to live up to their name by out hustling the Togo Jets in a 7-2 victory. The Hustlers came back from a 2-1 deficit in the second period with a shot deflected in by Brian Marr. The Hustlers added a pair of goals by Join Casano and singles by Brian Mueller, Joel Depourque, and Ron Anderson.
