A Running Enthusiast is sought to run with a blind young man who does a seven to eight minute mile. His times available are Tuesdays and Thursdays after 6 p.m. or any time at weekends. He likes to run for. about an hour. A Candy Striper Supervisor is needed for a _ local hospital. The supervisor must be able to work with teens. and have organiza- tional ability. Time needed is approximately 8 to ten hours a month, Pre-School Aides are needed for a multi-cultural organization located in Van- couver. Volunteers should have an understanding of, and’ respect’ for, various ethnic backgrounds and cultures. Visitors are needed for seniors living in their own homes or private care facili- ties. One woman in her 70s would love to be atle to chat with someone from her old hometown of Moose Jaw. People are needed to sell lot- tery tickets for a.local dance theatre, at booths in various malls and shopping areas. An interest in the arts plus an ability to meet the public would be helpful. Volunteers would receive a dance theatre ticket. Playroom Aides are also needed for family drop-in centres in three North Van- couver locations. All are morning programs and give Mums and their tots a break and a chance to meet others. Fitness Buffs can lead light exercise classes woman. on Monday morn- ings. Some awareness of special needs people is nec- essary. A Thrift Store Worker for a non-profit society’s outlet in Lynn Valley is needed. Hours will be at the conve- nience of the volunteer. Some knowledge of retailing will be helpful but not essen- tial. Aides are needed for a North Vancouver victim assistance program. Volunteers must be people oriented and able to deal with people in a non-judgmental and non- prejudicial manner. Ex- cellent training given. A time commitment is necessary. Also needed: Cross Country Skiers needed as guides for blind sports- minded enthusiasts. Satur- day and/or Sundays. Swim Aides to assist with handicapped program at a Vancouver hospital.
