On the west side of Bowen
Island there is a beautiful
little community called
Bluewater. Appropriately
named, Bluewater overlooks
Worlcomb and other islands
and the ever changing
Georgia Strait.

Situated on a_ forested
slope is the contemporary
post and beam home of Gary
and Lisa.

Gary, being a _ building
contractor, built the house
himself using only the best of
materials. A three level
home with four bedrooms,
sitting room and rec room,
the house has a warm woody
atmosphere which is
enhanced by the use of
natural cedar and knotty
pine on the walls of the main
living area and drywall in the
bedrooms.

The living room features
an acorn fireplace on bricks.
Off the living room is a wrap-
around deck with smoked
glass under the railings to
stop the wind. Both the deck

and the living room have the
aforementioned ocean view.
Above the kitchen and
dining areas is a sitting room
off the master bedroom
which overlooks the opened
ceiling living room. Running
along one wall of the sitting
room is a glass solarium, an
ideal place for year round
flowers and vegetables.

The main floor bath has
laundry facilities hidden
behind louvered wooden
doors. The lower level of the
house has the recreation
room and a bedroom.

The 7/8 acre lot has many
natural cedars and firs as
well as a grassy area. There
are numerous walkways and
stairs connecting the various
areas, including a carport
which has a concrete drive-
way, an expensive item for
Bowen Island.

Incidentally, Bowen
Island is not a remote, in-
accessible place. It is served
by the B.C. Ferries, a water
taxi and there is an
elementary school to Grade
seven.
