who works in the West
Vancouver Memorial
Library. She does something
called Inter-Library Loans.
Her name is Shirley Fon-
seca.

If you want a certain book
Sturley will do her utmost to

get it for you, even uf it
entails a search of the
catalogue in Edinburgh,
Scotland.

Last year the West Van
Library come up with 81
Inter-Library Loans. One
request was for the book
“The Lamont Clan 1235-
1935; seven centunes clan
history from record
evidence’ by Hector
McKechnoie. This book ts on
loan for three months from
the National Library of
Scotland.

Another request was for
“Gideon Todd's
Revolutionary War Record -

Yate of Connecticut.”
Shirley sent to the New

England Historic
Genealogical Society,
Boston, Massachusetts for

that one.

Sul another request was
for the “Hamilton Spectator
1886-1887, (newspaper on
microfilm)” which was
received from the National
Library of Canada, Ottawa,
Ontano.

A valid hbrary card from
any branch of the Greater
Vancouver Library
Federation entutles you to
borrow books from, and use
the information service of all

branches of its eight
hbranes.
If you request a _ book

through our FIN (Federation
Information Network)
service, it's a rather simple
process. There is a van that
keeps on trucking from
library to library, lending
and borrowing within the
federation. This is a free
service. The West Van

Library filled 815 FIN
requests, and 4,387 reserves
last year.

West Vancouver Memorial
Library, ask Shirley about
Inter-Library Loans. If you
don’t make use of the many
exciting services the hbrary
has to offer - from the
Reference desk to the
Children’s department, you
arent making the most of
your tax dollar.

Even if you are not ad-
dicted to the reading habit,
the hbrary 1s a great place
for. hstening to music,
holding meetings in_ the
seminar room, enjoying
paintings, laughing at puppet
shows, joining in the weekly
discussion groups, or just
