B.C. CHAMPIONSHIPS In a swim meet-marke performances last weekend, the West Vancouver Otters placed seventh out of the over 20 clubs participating. “The B.C. Long course championships were held from July 3 to 6th at the UBC Aquatic Centre in a 50 metre pool which is known to be slow for competitors trying for a national time. ~ The competition was dominated by the Canadian Doiphin swim club of Vancouver and the Hyack swim club of New West- minster who took first and second places respectively. While a number of WV Otters met Division II qualifying standards, a particularly good meet was had by the following: Sara Frisby in the girls 10 and under category won six gold medals and = was awarded the girls aggregate high point trophy in her age group for accumulating the greatest number of points. Frisby, aged 10, stroked to easy victories in the 50 metre. freestyle, 100 metre freestyle, 200 metre freestyle, 400 metre freestyle, 50 metre backstroke and the 100 metre backstroke. Susan May, aged 10, made the finals in the 100 metre d by some outstanding personal - backstroke and took a bfonze medal in the 50 metre backstroke. In boys 10 and under competition, Michael Carpenter, had a super meet as he placed fourth in the 50 metre freestyle and the 50 metre backstroke, fifth in the 200 metre freestyle and the 100 metre backstroke, sixth in the 100 metre freestyle and eighth in the 400 metre freestyle. Ellen Stewart, aged 12, swam in four finals and finished well in each. Lisa Hicks, aged 13, captured a bronze medal in the girls 13 and 14, 200 metre breaststroke. She _ also placed well in the 200 metre individual medley, and 400 metre individual medley. In the boys aged 15 to 17 and senior category, Rod Archibald, aged 15 had a good meet as he swam in the consolation finals of the 100 metre backstroke, 200 metre backstroke, 400 metre freestyle and the 400 metre individual medley. He also picked up a fourth placed in the 100 metre breaststroke, fifth place in the 200 metre individual medley and the 200 metre breaststroke, and a seventh place finish in the 1500 metre freestyle. The Otters relay teams also did well and bronze "at > Nea medals went to the 10 and under girls team of Sara Frisby, Susan May, Carolyn Reeder and Andriana Schemel who placed third in the 200 metre freestyle relay and the 1! and 12 year old girls team of Sara Fisby, Wendy May, Ellen Stewart and Carrie Lehman who took third in the 200 metre medley relay. Seymour ladies golf results Joan Penner was _ the Seymour pin winner in the first division of Seymour ladies golf recently with a net of 70. Barb Dunlop was first runner-up and Vivian Anderson was_ second runner-up. Edie Loutit was the pin winner in the second division with a net 6f 67. Rosimarie Damist was the first runner- S up and Eve McLaren was second runner-up. Anna-May Taylor was the low gross winner with a score of 82. Edie Loutit was also a medallist for the Kingsmill Tournament with a net of 67. The National Handicap Award winner for Division 2 was Barbara Parry with a net 70. esnt give on taste.
