Recycling awareness pushed

WE’VE heard the words
reduce, reuse and recy-
cle.

After all, it’s the mantra of

the North Shore Reeveling
Program (NSRP). But even
though people are recycling
morc than they were, program
designers feel some people just
aren’t getting the message.

So the agency plans a
stepped up campaign to con-
vince them: including a new
educational program called
Acting on Awareness.

Running benveen October
1 and November 30, Right
Side Prodigy, a group of voung
Carson) Graham | secondary-
trained improv actors, will pre-
sent a blend of consumption
education and comedy.

Developed by a number of
education groups, Victoria
Gazeley, program coordinator,
said the new program comple-
ments the ministry of educa-
tion’s existing program's for
Grades 8-12. She said it's
offered free and runs about an
hour per session.

Another part of the cam-
paign is a cost sharing of pro-
grams with local businesses. To
that cid, NSRP manager Al
Lyneh announced that: three
focal businesses are now official
sponsors of the North Shore’s
expanded reeveling collection
program to the tune
$40,000 per year.
