ate law much hate SINCE UNIVERSITY education became available to everybody and his dog, the num- ber of educated nin- compoops has increased “exponential- ly,” as they might say in academe. That crossed my mind when I read the story on David Schreck’s response to the Press Council's blast on the Bill 33 issue. The NDP amended the Human Rights Act (un oxy- moron if ever there was one) so that anyone who “indi- cates” discrimination against any person or group, or says something that is “likely” to bring a person into hatred or contempt can be hauled before an NDP-appointed tribunal and fined up to $100,000. It’s all-inclusive and ready made for Big Brother, so that the politicians and their minions in the bureau- cracy will decide what is “likely” and what is “hatred.” Tam Public Enemy Number One and am waiting for the People’s Court to get into action. Have been wait- ing for nearly.18 months, at considerable cost to this newspaper. ‘Recently, B.C. Press Council Chairman Bob Yanow stated in a press release that Bill 33 is uncon- stitutional and that it is “an unwarranted attack on free speech and a free press in British Columbia.” He has asked Attorney General Ujjal Dosanjii to remove it and other laws that threaten the press. But Dosanjh has refused to do so... Enter David Schreck, NDP MLA for North Vancouver-Lonsdale. Schreck “supports the legislation as is.” Which is not exactly news. He was one of its originators. He also said that “people with money have lawyers,” meaning, I suppose, that this newspaper and other employers are fair game. That's quite in fine with socialist dogma. His accom- plice, yappy little Glen Clark, is of the same opin- ion. . -. Too confused to know anything about the real . world, Schreck doesn’t seem to be aware that under Bill 33 the poor are also fair game for the NDP’s Thought Police. Like the guy over in Victoria who used to own a ‘CORRECTION TICE In our 82-5 Easter Baby Woek flyer, Century Sreverra Sport Booster Car Saat on page 6 should raad “For children 40 to 60 Ibs.” All toy offers on pages 10 & 11 are in effect 7 days only Mon., Mar. 25 to Sun., Mar, 31., unless otherwise stat- ed. Proctor-Silax Slow Cocker & Tefal Deep Fryer on page 27 should have read “4 Days Only Mon., Mar. 25 to Thu., Mar. 28." Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Doug Collins on the Beste other hand small newspaper that carried my column. He has no money and is also the target of narrow-eyed leftist scruti- ny. Our man in Lonsdale then gave vent to dumb statement number two. “Poor people need an agency like this,” he said. Really? It was the Canadian Jewish Congress that laid the first complaint against me. Are they “poor people?” I don't think so. There followed dumb statement number three. Provincial hate laws are needed, declared Schreck, because the federal laws apply only to federal agen- cies, such as banks. Wrong again. Pay atten- tion to teacher, Schreck. The federal hate laws apply to anyone, in banks, out of banks, and also to those who aren't even thinking about banks. James Keegstra didn’t work for a bank. Nor were any of the other people who have been charged under that ethnically inspired legislation. Ina teal democracy hate laws don't get to first base. In the U.S. the First Amendment of the American Constitution protects the ’ public from such dangerous fuel. No ifs, ands or buts. Schreck knows well enough why provincial hate laws are “needed.” It's because people like me can't be prosecuted under the federal laws. [ don’t preach hate, which in any case is undefinable. And any such charge would turn out to be a damp squib. So provincial laws had to be created under which the politically incorrect can be harassed. Call DEREK A. But there’s more to all this than Bill 33. As the Press Council says, the “Human Rights” Council is being given the power under other legislation to lay charges against newspapers “on the flimsicst of pretexts.” “Gag orders” are also on the agenda. The socialists are getting away with it because the mainstream media are either too lazy or too stupid to go after them. They also seem to ‘be very busy chasing “white supremiucists” and other offi- cial devils. As far as I am concerned, Schreck, you can get lost.
