Surj Rattan BUSINESS BRIEFS _ GAME INVENTOR A NORTH Vancouver man has invented a new board game for both children and adults just in time for Chirstmas, The Wolf and Sheep game is the invention of retired North Vancouver District worker Geremia De Santis and his partner Erwin Biedler, of the GE Wolf and Sheep Inc., company. - De Santis, an Italian immigrant and 35-year resident of North Vancouver, said the reason he in- vented the game was so he would have something to keep him busy during his retizement years. “f didn’t just want to sit around and not do anything. I wanted to keep busy, and this project has kept me pretty busy,"” said De Santis. He added that the idea to invent the game came to him while he worked at his truck driving job for the district. During his lunch times, he would go home and jot ideas down on paper and, after several revisions, came ip with the Wolf and Sheep game, which is recom- mended for ages six and up. ‘‘The game is a bit tike checkers and a bit like chess. | came up with the wolf and sheep because the woif is an aggressor and the sheep is more of an_ innocent type,’’ said De Santis. AWARD WINNER A NORTH Vancouver Simon Fraser University (SFU) student has won a $2,1G0 scholarship from the Canadian Scholarship Trust (CST) Foundation. Sasha Zikic is a second year student at SFU studying theoreti- cal physics and plans to pursue a career in that field. ~ “Planning for my education was initiated by my parents who have seen the advantages of the CST plan,’”’ said Zikic. ‘‘The funding from the plan bas helped enormously in paying for my tu- ition.” The CST Foundation sponsors the CST plan, which is the oldest and largest registered education savings plan in the world.
