Despite the time spent on social and fund-raising activities, coaches Richard Gate, Ann Jones, K.C. Emerson and Danielle Russell have managed to turn out a number of provincial and national champions. Included in this list of champs are Kathryn Pellett and Claire Matthews, who are both current hotders of national times. Previous members of the Otters who hold national times are Sara Frisby, Julie Lavender, Ian Hylands and Sandy Melody. Since its inception, club goals have been to promote physical and psychological well-being, teach children organizational skills, create oppor- tunities for the swimmers to travel and receive public recognition, and allow boys and giris to participate equally in a team environment.
