it isn’t just imagination, it’s
reality. It’s a reality that
could well take the 6’4", 210
Ib. Lenny to a fame and
fortune that most of us only
dream about.

But for hockey players
that reality has a way of
running out at a very early
age, so the wise ones, like
Lenny Dawes, find a way to
plan for their future without
sacrificing their very at-
tractive present. For Lenny
that has meant an ongoing
program of home study with
the Open Learning Institute.

“I know I'm making

So he takes OLI courses.
He has finished high school
and is well into a business
administration program with
four OLI courses to his
credit. Summer is his prime
study time as hockey season
means many hours of daily
practice and of course, a
heavy schedule of bus trips
away from home. But he
does manage to squeeze in
some course work in-season
and his coach, Dave An-
drews, admires him for it.

“You've got to have a lot
of self-discipline to do what

hockey forever,” he says. “I Lenny is doing,” says An-
