Dear Editor: I find it exciting to knowso many people want to see my" “colours” philosophy. As past president of my own company and a suc- cessful new home “salesperson (I wouldn't sell used) for various developers in B.C. and Alberta, I worked in the guts of the ‘Free’ Enterprise System. There I learned what hypocrisy and amorality were all about. My dedication to the community is revitalized every day. Every day that I work as a tenant and community advocate, I_ am faced with some-new outrage ‘perpetrated by hypocritic right-wing advocates. My personal case load is over 50 cases and if it wasn’t for the incredible support I get from unpaid volunteers, I couldn't ‘Red Dear Editor: As one who was very involved in the recent municipal elections, I would like to share Ms. H. Overett’s concern over the political backing of various candidates. I suspect because of the McCarthy “witch-hunt” of the 50s, we are very reluctant to be accused of doing the same thing. I believe this fear is causing us to deny there may be some amongst us who.e@re running on behalf of the Communist Party. — We have been conditioned to consider ourselves as paranoid if we think there may be “Reds under the What became of MY letter? My greatest concern is that ‘I know I “am’* only dealing. with the tip of the iceberg and so’ many. un- defended people are doing without the: help that . they need. I and my fellow - _running- mate’s tremendous success at the polls after only six months of community work is a good indicator of what is to come and we thank our supporters. I have a major problem. to deal with out of the election. Most of my community knows of the unsigned hate literature that was being distributed by some can- didates arid some public and financial institutions. Legal counsel advises me that I have an excellent case for malicious libel. What I have to decide is whether my community beds” but, the fact is, the Communists are alive, well, and kicking in North Vancouver. ‘They are also very cunning, and it is this fear of paranoia that they take advantage of. I believe that in a true democracy there is room for all political beliefs, however, I will fight ‘like. hell any attempt by the Communist Party to gain control on any level of government in an area where Ilive. The Communists are not easy to fight, they are devious ‘and very fond ‘of using single-interest groups, needs ano r Social Credit “Dirty Tricks Affair” or not. I do know that I do not need the notoriety to knock off Jack Davis in the coming Provincial Election. The real issues of the campaign were well ar- ticulated by most of the candidates. One of us was obviously. run just to viciously attack those who might upset the Status Quo apple cart. The Davis Machine was partially geared up and the Status Quo was maintained. The fascinating aspect of the campaign is the concern some of the distributors and supporters of the unsigned hate literature purported to have for my party affiliation. Typically, they offered no party flags of their own. If our community wanted that, they would vote for party flags. ds’ some of whom have causes which are very appealing to the public. An example of the use of, and violence that can occur by the use of these groups is the recent racial clashes in Vancouver. The election, thank heaven, is now over, the battle has just begun. I hope that the voters of North Vancouver will come out of their apathetic state and become aware of the political situation on the North Shore. In response to “Let candidates show their true colors!” I agree. I think candidates should show their true colors, especially the Nazi’s and those associated with the Klan, because I don’t think those types are good candidates. The same with Liberals too. This is Conservative country, out west, and we wouldn't want to vote in a Liberal by mistake. Of course Conservative candidates should step forward also.
