(Kea Smith photos) Appeal Volunteer drivers provide a very helpful service to clients of the Ministry of Human Resources. Without them, a lot of children would not receive the regular therapy, day care, or special schooling they need. The drivers are both men and women who feel the need to do something extra with their free time, who can relate to children, and who have a car and a safe driving record. The Ministry of Human Resources = reim- burses the volunteers’ driv- ing gosts. Single parents, or parents who both work, find it im- possible to manage the add- ed chore of taking children with special needs to and from hospitals or treatment centres. That is why the volunteer driver makes a strong impact on the child's opportunities and the families’ peace of mind. “The Art Department at the NORTH SHORE NEWS ts now open and for volunteer drivers Volunteers drive autistic children to Laurel House, physically handicapped children to G.F.
