nodded in the sunbeams, and
the leaves left on the trees
were luminous, glowing
greenly in the fading fight. I
sat for a long time there in
the calm and the quict, and
between. the roaring of the
float. ‘planes overhead I
experienced the quictness
and stillness of the forest,
and noticed for the first time
the pitter-patter of. debris
from the tree kings as they
pursued their timeless
