British Properties man strangled;
WV resident charged in killing

NEIGHBORS OF a West Vancouver man found murdered
in liis parents’ British Properties home on Tuesday are
. wondering why anyone would want to kill the young man.

Seott Gorden Kraft, 32, was
found murdered in his parents’
house at 397 Southborough Dr. at
6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Dale Roger Paterson, 31, of
West Vancouver, is charged with
second—degree murder in connec-
tion with Kraft’s death.

Paterson was scheduled to ap-
pear in West Vancouver provincial
court this inorning.

Jamie Gibson said Kraft, an
employee of the Hongkong Bank
of Canada, received a blow to the
head with a blunt object. A
subsequent autopsy revealed that
he died of strangulation.

Gibson said that Kraft and
Paterson knew each other.

“The fellow we are charging
phoned it (the murder) in {to
police),’’ said Gibson.

* Police did not release any possi-
ble motive for the killing.

Meanwhile, a neighbor who
knew Kraft, but who asked not to
be identified, said she and her
family were in shock over the
slaying..

“They were just a beautiful”

children. They’re just a wonderful
family.

‘““No one ever thought there
were any weird dealings or any-
thing,’’ said the neighbor.

She added that her family has
lived next door to the Krafts for
the past 20 years.

‘‘The neighborhood has
changed a lot. People have moved
away and new people have moved
in. But they’ve (Krafts) lived here
for 20 years. It’s just so awful.”’

She : said that Kraft’s parents
have been away from the house
while working overseas.

“There were a lot of cars
parked over there the other day so
we thought Bob and Mary (the
parents) had come back home,”’
said the neighbor. .

Kraft’s brother travelled from
Victoria Wednesday to identify the
body.

The police investigation is con-
tinuing.
