HOLIDAYS, 135 WEST FIRST STREET, NORTH VANCOUVER, 980-7722 North Vancouver's eternal home of disco sounds and flashing lights has made the progressive decision to once again feature live enter- tainment. Holidays was once Gooty’s which was once the Old Roller Rink, and back in my younger days the Rink featured a string of high-profile, high-energy and maybe just plain high, live acts for the music-hungry toik of the North Shore. But the enthusiasm for live acts dropped and the price for the headliners rose and the Old Roller Rink <*onned rolling. However the riudday'c intk, with eyes and ears on expanding the demographics of the nightclub’s clientele, are betting on live music again being a popular drawing card on the North Shore. The bands, Top-40 specialists all, will start strutting through Holi- days on May 23 with Juan Trak, a rocking band of closet punsters. So drag out those old bell-bot- toms and platform heels and call your old flame, its time to do the Bump again, folks. THE ANCHOR IN, 1653 COL- UMBIA STREET, NORTH VAN- COUVER, 980-8568 After four years of dishing out dock-side German cuisine to Timothy Renshaw TABLE HOPPING salty-dogs and landlubbers from fn’s industrially picturesque loca- tion adjacent to the Lynnwood marina, the Jochen Voss version of the Anchor In served its last lunch on May 13. Voss, who turned the Anchor in- to a good German-style restaurant, had built up a loyal clientele over the years, but he was unable to reach an agreement with the property's owner on a new lease. So the Anchor has been drap- ped again, and there is no word yet as to who will be in charge of raising it. CHEZ MICHEL RESTAURANT, 1373 MARINE DRIVE, WEST VANCOUVER, 926-4913 Michel and Philippe, the brothers Segur, have temporarily closed their popular French res- taurant to attend the wedding in France of another brother Segur. Chez Michel will be closed until June 18 to allow the boys to cele- brate in suitable Segurian style.
