IEFS BC Rail operations eet back to normal BC RAIL operations are expected to be back te normal by Saturday, now that the second of two native Indian blockades set up on the North Vancouver-based company's mainline track this week has come down. On Wednesday, the Mount Currie Indian Band took down the rail blockade it had set up Tuesday near Lillooet, just hours after an RCMP team enforced a B.C. Supreme Court order and dismantled a blockade set up last Friday by the Seton [ncian Band, also near Lillooet. BC Rail spokesman Barrie Wall said during the course of the two blockades, the company had rerouted some of its freight traffic along the Canadian National's Prince George line. “We still have between 15,000 and 17,000 pieces of freight backed up. We have locomotives and rolling stock on the CN line and it will take a while to get that equipment back to our line," Wall said Thursday. He added that while the passenger service, which had been discontinued during the blockades, is now back to normal, the number of passengers using the service is down. “We have to get the passengers back. We had a passenger train leave North Vancouver this morning (Thursday) but we only had 60 passengers on board where we would normally have about 100,”’ said Wall. He added that the only plans BC Rail has to make sure another blockade does not occur is to re-serve its B.C. Supreme Court in- junction prohibiting any further blockades. “It’s a blanket injunction. There's not much you can do, really. We're relieved and pleased it’s over,’’ said Wall, who estimated that BC Rail lost about $1 million during the course of the two blockades. The natives had set up the blockades to protest the lack of negotiations concerning the issues of land claims and aboriginal title. THE ORIGINAL SPORTS SEDAN FOR THE PRICE OF AN IMITATION.
