bag for laundry. Instruct the kid
how to use it. Impress upon him
that dirty socks contaminate clean
shirts.

Clothes: If your suitcase is about
% full, you've packed just right.

Jeans weigh twice as much as
ordinary cotton slacks. Worse,
they are horrible to hand wash and
almost impossible to dry.

PACK LIGHTLY

Wear your heavy garments and
pack your lighter ones.

One heavy sweater, worn over
Shirts, is sufficient. One jacket,
wind and waterproof, is enough. If
it gets really cold, wear the sweater
underneath. And to bed if neces-
sary.

Bring plenty of socks! Tours in-
clude a lot of walking and your
feet can suffer. Lightweight cotton
is the best choice. Don't choose
knee socks - they're harder to
wash. Don't choose white for ob-
vious reasons. .

And in generai: The easiest
groups to keep organized is the
ones wearing the same hats.

The buddy-system works like a
dream but rotating partners is wise
since there’s always a couple of
pairs that don’t mix.

Rather than having twenty kids
phoning home community calls are
cheaper -five kids call one parent
who relays messages.

Make sure your kid has an alarm
clock, a diary, a pac of Kleenex
and a couple of pens. Don’t tell
him that the postcards he writes
will arrive home after he does.
