accord reached

A COMPROMISE has at last been
reached between the North Shore
Skeet Club and the Lynn Valley
Community Association to resolve
the long-standing issues related to
the operation of the Skeet Club.

Discussions have been continu-
ing since early spring between the
two bodies as well as district staff
and the Greater Vancouver
Regional District (GVRD).

North Vancouver District Coun-
cil unanimously endorsed an
agreement at Monday night's
meeting that will limit shooting at
the club to: one day in November;
Boxing Day and one other day in
December; two days in either Feb-
ruary or March; Tuesday nights
from 6 to 9 p.m., April through
October. There will be no Sunday

The GVRD and the district have
also agreed to the relocation of the
club within the district within a
two-year period.

The Pacific Shooters Associa-
tion will also be included in this
process to see if a combined site is
feasible. The appropriate com-
munity groups will be informed at
a later date, depending on the
location, with the Lynn Valley
Community Association agreeing
to participate in this process.

Richard Plunkett, director of
Development, said in his report to
council that though it has taken
numerous meetings and many
months to reach this agreement,
“tall sides have shown willingness
to cooperate.’’
