Grouse skiers shine at pacesetter IT WAS AN exciting two days for skiers attending the annual Molson Pro.- Team/Pacesetter Event Apnil 7 and 8 at Silver Star Ski area. This year’s races drew the largest participation ever with 29 teams competing in the Pro-Team race and 53 ski school instructors vying for the fastest time in the Molstar Pacesetter race. Members of the winning Pro-Team were from Lake Louise and the three person team consisted of Brad Hur. tubise, Cam Watson and Mike Koper. Their combined time was 93.09 seconds, .48 seconds faster than the se- cond place team of Rob McSkimming, John Kindree and Dave Perry of Blackcomb Mountain. The third place represen- ting Hidden Ridge Ski Area with a combined time of 96.23 seconds were Wayne O'Neil, Wendy Read and Sam Gifford. O’Neil and Read aiso received awards for recording the fastest male and female times respectively during the race. The Pacesetter race was a two-run, dual slalom event which determined the ‘“‘par- handicaps’’ for next year’s Molstar program. Gary Vollett) of Grouse Mountain won the race with a time of 19.26 seconds and receives the coveted ‘*O Han- dicap’’. Tim Gluck from Whistler Mountain came in second place with a time of 19.48 > - An additional race was held in honor of the Ski School Directors who attend- ed the weedend event.
