found dead

WEST VANCOUVER Police are investigating the death Tuesday
of a 53-year-old West Vancouver man in the Black Mountain area
of Cypress Park.

Larson Place resident Frederick Charles Bazin had gone for a
hike alone in the morning along the Baden Powell Trail, but was
discovered dead just after noon by two hikers near Eagle Bluff.

Said hiker Teddy Bear, who found the body, ‘‘It looked like he
had climbed up and then wandered off the trail. He was a heavy-set
man, and it looked tike he had suffered a massive coronary.”’

Police have ruled out foul play.

An autopsy is pending (o determine cause of death.

centre damaged

FIRE DAMAGED a new roof at the Eagle Harbour Community
Centre in West Vancouver Monday night.

West Vancouver District firefighters responded to the blaze at
approximately 11:30 p.m.

The fire destroyed a 12 X 12-foot section of roof and the
building sustained considerable water damage.

The building was vacant at the time of the fire.

The district also approved Wednesday the introduction of a
