cropping) means that you plant a
new crop in a space as soon as the
old crop has been harvested.

not to practise succession plant-
ing, you can fill in dormant areas
of the garden with cover crops.

under next spring.

Vegetables like reas and beans can
also be used this way, and you
can harvest them before tilling
them under,
@ Square-,oot gardening. A
method that takes growing more
in less space to the extreme is
called square-foot gardening. This
approach, in which plots are set
up in one-foot squares, saves 80%
of the space normally needed to
grow a garden, Rather than sow-
ing sceds and Sater thinning out
crops, seeds are planted individu-
ally, the same distance apart
within each square.
