Tim Cruly has already
completed. a film studies
degree at. the University of
Winnipeg, as well as a number
of acting workshops, but he
sees the Capilano College
program as something differ-
ent.

“In the other courses, I
felt like I didn’t belong
there,” he says. “No one
wanted to talk to the native

Cruly, who was also the
first aboriginal to win the
Manitoba Country Music
Award, hopes to develop a
screenplay he’s already got in
the works called Holy Roller.
It’s based on his experiences
of putting together a gigging
band and taking it off the
reservation and into the big
city.
