The 3PAHA is currently distributing a questionnaire to area homes that asks residents whether trees on their property obstruct views, block sunlight of pose a potential satery Aazard. The move comes after the Workers C Jompensation Board recently ordered ning of UR courses in the Howe Sound, Vancouver sad Whistler corridar to conduct an assessment of trees and remove or trim any potentiailv-hazardous specimens. The WCB was prompted to issue the order when a Squamish woman was killed by a falling wee while playing a course in Kamloops in May. “We have a huge loss of view and devaluation of Property values in the Properties.” said Lal Fox, a member of the BPAHA. “The trees keep growing and growing and growing and nobody is really concemed about the potential hazard.” He is urging the municipality to follow the WCR’s Jead and conduct an assessment of the area’s trees. “The WCB has recognized the hazard to golfers, but what about the hazard to people driving along the road?” he said. “(The municipality) should assess all of these trees that are contiguous to roads and could be potential hazards.” West Vancouver’s municipal arborist Shirley Nicolson said that abroad assessment of the Properties is unlikely.
