Because the great North
Vancouver Italian restaurant was
founded in 1986 on those two ele-
ments so key to the Italian cultural
experience.

Its founders, Antonio and Mario
Corsi, are at the heart of a tight-
knit North Shore Italian family and
a deservedly successful family of
restaurants that now includes oper-
ations in Kitsilano and Edmonton,
Alberta.

The Corsi family was dealt a
tragic blow on May | when
Angelica Corsi died suddenly at the
age of 49.

Angelica, the wife of Mario,
toiled tirelessly for the Corsi cause
in the restaurant trade, where holi-
days are almost non-existent and -
customer service never ends.

She was a genuinely warm and

FANS award —
honors artists

NOMINATIONS FOR the first
FANS award are invited from artists,
arts groups and arts fans.

The recipient will be awarded at the
FANS Night Premiere, Oct. 3, to
inaugurate the Foundation for the’
Arts On the North Shore (FANS), an
arm of the North Shore Arts
Commission.

The award will honor a resident -
North Shore artist —- musician,
sculptor, actor, painter, writer or film-
maker —- with a substantial and rec-
ognized body of work. ‘The award
will be a work of art commissioned
from a local artist.

The first annual FANS Night wil
be a gala evening at Presentation %
House, featuring a_ showcase.'of
emerging artists, a public report on
the work of the commission, the pre-
sentation of the FANS Award, and
the launching and’ building of the
FANS Fund.
