Taylor teams

GERMAINE JACKSON and local
rhythm and blues singer Bobby
Taylor team up fer one night,
Saturday, July 28, at the Or-
pheum Theatre.

Jackson, formerly of the
Jackson Five, and Tavior will be
joined on stage by the Henry
Young Orchestra and Calgary
singer Chris MacGregor, whom
Taylor describes as “mean and
awesome, the new janis Joplin.”

The concert, says Taylor, is

Taylor's band, the Vancouvers,
were the first Canadian band to
sign with Motown Records.
Taylor, whose singing career was
nearly destroyed due to throat
cancer, has appeared in concert
a handful of times since his
return to Vancouver.

kind of restaurant that flourished
in decades past: an informal sl-

inger of Chinese-Canadian tast
tood, delivered with a dash of in-
formal social interaction.

The restaurant was even used in
a scene from the movie The Step-
tather.

its quirky character will be
missed.

Fung said he plans to resurrect
the diner, and his first choice for a
location would be Edgemont
Village.

“Treally appreciated the
neighborhood,’ Fung said.
