NINE NORTH Shore skaters glid-
ed to medal wins in the Western
Divisional Championships in
North Battleford, Sask., at the
beginning of the month.

North Shore Winter Club
skating ace Neil Paterson captured
the silver medal in the senior mens’
category, while fellow Winter Club
skater Jasan Mongrain won the
silver medal in the novice mens’
category.

Hollyburn Country Club skater
Shannon Allison skated to a gold
medal for the senior ladies; Jen-
nifer Lynne White of the North
Shore Winter Club won the gold
medal for novice ladies.

Among junior tadies, Tanya
Binger of the North Shore Winter
Club won the silver medal.

Hollyburn Country Club skater
Colin Epp and Saskatchewan’s
Twana Rose combined to win the
gold medal in the junior pairs
competition.

Natasha Markavina and Tom
Englemaier, also of the Hollyburn
club, skated to win the silver medal
in the novice pairs competition.

North Vancouver’s Frederic
Schaefer and Coquitlam’s Kimber-
ly Popp combined to win the gold
medal in the novice dance com-
petition.

Forty-seven B.C. skaters com-
peted in the North - Battleford
championship, winning 28 medals
— 11 gold, six silver and Six
bronze.

Forty-two B.C. skaters — in-
cluding some from North Shore
clubs — will be going to the Cana-
dian championships in Victoria in
January. '
