CANADA'S ANNUAL running campaign, Run
Canada!, will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year
as part of Canada's May 22 to 31 Fitweek.

The national running week, organized by the Ca-
nadian Track and Field Association, will once again
offer a variety of events for people of all ages and
abilities in all provinces of the country.

Qver 460 events have already been registered for
Run Canada! °87 with Alberta and Ontario leading
the way.

_ Schools, clubs and recreational and sport associa-
tions in Alberta have already planned 107 events ex-
pecting to host over 16,000 runners.

The 1986 Ren Canada! campaign introduced
326,000 Canadians to the sport of running through
1,700 events.

Premier Canadian middle distance runners Lynn
and Paul Williams have agreed to represent the ideal
Canadian ‘‘fit family’* as honorary chairmen for Run
Canada! for the second consecutive year. Lynn
Williams was a double medalist at the 1986 Com-
monwealth Games in Scotland taking the gold in the
3,500 metre and bronze in the 1,500 metre events.

Paul Williams finished.in the top six of both the
5,000 and 10,000 metre events.

Both Lynn and Paul are Canadian record holders in
their events.
