Not content with being the top senior girls’ basketball squad on the North Shore, the Hillside Highwaymen went on to join the top 15 teams in the province at the recent “AA” Champion- ships. Hillside placed thirteenth Delta out of the 16 teams com- pe ting in Penticton March 10 to 13. The Highwaymen lost their first match 65-56 to Vernon, who later went on to take second place. Hillside was then trounced by North Delta 43-24 in the second round. But the tide turned by game number three, and the girls took a 52-51 overtime squeaker from Enc Hamber. In their last match of the tournament, the High- waymen trashed Cranbrook 57-32, bagging the overall number thirteen spot for the year. Black Hawks take crown BLACK HAWKS are the North Vancouver Senior Recreational! Hockey champions, after defeating the Drillers in two straight games in the final series. The final game was played Sunday, and the Black Hawks won it 41, on goals by Don Walzak, Ray Merrifield, John Payne and Don Ehl. John McCormick scored for the Dmnillers. Goalie Pat Lust limited the usually high scoring Drillers to just one goal in each of the two games. Meanwhile, the Flames tied the consolation senes at 1-1 with B.C. Tel with a 7-4 win. Ross Miller scored twice for the Flames. That series will be decided next Sunday, March 26, at 6:45 p.m., while the Black Hawks and the Drillers will play a fnendly game at 8:30 at the North Vancouver Recreation Centre. GOLF?
