City council Monday passed a motion by Alderman Gary Payne to display the LaFrance Aenal fire truck at the museum for a $50 a month maintenance fee for the first year and then to decide whether to give the truck outright to the museum. Council made the decision after hearing a report by Bill Baker, the director of the North Shore museum. The 1958 vehicle has been a subject of council debate on and off this year since a move to sell the truck to Creston fell through. Appraisers had placed the value of the truck at $23,000 but the City director of purchasing Gary Brewer said in a report that it was only worth up to $15,000 less the price of advertising.
